[mingle] world two: prom?

world two: prom?

One moment, your foot lands on the cold floor of the Space, and in the next, it lands through the warm doorway of a silvered hall that seems to stretch onwards and upwards. Lockers and doors lace each side, the quiet murmur of people coming from them, and the air feels so strangely alive with the charge of something--

but you don't get much time to reflect on it, as the bell rings and students surge out of classrooms, all wearing identical uniforms if not identical pins. In your hand, your brand new smartphone gives a ring - you've got mail!

One (1) New Message
Good afternoon! Your dean would love to remind you that prom is coming up at the beginning of next month - if you haven't asked that special someone yet, you should do it quickly! Dress to kill, and don't forget about voting for this year's monarchs - or taking someone out, if you want a spot!

But that's not the only message Original Characters receive as, just a second later, another rings on their phone.

Bet You Thought You'd Seen the Last of Me? ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗIf you can read this… (๑ↀᆺↀ๑)✧ It looks like your soul didn't assimilate as well as the others!!

Not to worry though - some of you are veterans now! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ Your mission is the same! Laugh! Cry! Regain the pieces of yourself that were once lost! And if you need a reminder on how to do that, you need to FEEL things! That's right, feelings!! (✿´ ꒳ ` ) Get your hands dirty in 'em! Or in general!

This place is a real known for it's AssClass - you know, Assassin's Classification, what were you thinking? ヾ(*ゝω・*)ノ The prize is supposed to be pretty good too! A free wish if you win? Got anything you want? People don't die when they're killed here, so what've you got to lose? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Uhh, oh, let me catch you up to speed though—

Original Characters will then find themselves with a semi-brief summary of what their Remixed life would have been - and this time around it includes a helpful sentence blurb for each of their relationships to others, as well as the magic mechanics of the academy around them, even if they might struggle with tapping into them. For those of you who haven't crafted possible Remixed lives, you'll only get:

( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) Um… Backstory not found?

… Feel free to wing it! (☞゚ヮ゚)☞ What've you got to lose?

Time for a campus tour.

Algos Academy for Extraordinary Individuals is a wonderful, magical place hidden away in the sky - a fact that's easy to see from the mountain peaks faint in the distance and the clouds drifting just outside, almost as if you could touch them! And you can, if you go to walk outside the academy's walls - the campus is located on a massive floating island, with smaller islands hovering around it, seemingly linked to the main island by invisible tethers with the way they bob up and down gently like ships docked on the water. Austere and elegant, the main campus seems more like the grounds of an old castle: well-maintained but very open and green, with a large fountain located in a plaza north of the academy's entrance. To the far east and west sides of the island, twin mountain peaks connect to the island to act as an anchor to the world for the magic that makes Algos Academy so extraordinary. Those attending the academy need special permission to leave the campus grounds, however. At least the floating islands, reachable by various means (or just by a little magic!), offer some interesting things to do - places to eat, gardens to stroll in, lakes and rivers, forests and orchards, extra-curricular activities, and so on. Care for an adventure? Or maybe you'll have an assignment to take you there!

On the inside of the academy, there is a dissonance between the architecture, which is royal and marbled, and the actual level of technology and culture, which is more... this decade's style of schooling. A castle renovated to suit the needs of three hundred or so students and their faculty, if you would. To top it all off, magic weighs even heavier in the air here than it does outside, summoned with ease by the item also found on your person - all it takes is a thought, a will, and a word. Don't believe those people who say you absolutely need to swish and flick or it won't work, though! They’re a little old-fashioned.

Moving along. The academy's silver and grey marble seems more centered around the administrative area - this is where you'll find the main office, the dean's office, the library, the cafeteria, the teacher's lounge... all of that good, fun stuff. More academic-based courses are around here, too! Your "History of Fallen Empires" class is the last door on the left, thank you. The academy offers everything from the maths and sciences, language and literature, to leadership and the arts, so don't be shy! Drop by a room or two if you want a taste of the mundane, or make your way down the stairs to the bounce point for the garden-islands, accessible via a little bit of force magic that throws you right into the thick of it.

The rest of the school is a little more magical, with the hallways naturally growing to reflect the magic taught and used most often in their area; the islands that float outside follow this pattern as well.

The Charming Arts hallways are dimly-lit and dreamy, with dark greens and more earthy tones stretching through them; they’re also large enough to accommodate the bushes of belladonna, nightshade, and lavender (among other things) that grow to give the academy a little greenery - not to mention a little danger. At the end of them are the dorms where those found to have an aptitude for charming others get to stay - The Charmed Life. Every room in this dorm is spelled to do its own thing: it self-cleans, it self-brews tea, it can even make your favorite food (with some room for error)! All it takes is a very sweetly-made request. The Charmed Life has the extra benefit of having the school's lake-island right outside its windows - it's easy to reach as well, if you're daring enough to try a little flying magic.

Meanwhile, the Dark Arts hallways are the direct opposite of their name: everything is a clean and pristine white, the walls and floors almost reflective with how shiny they are. No greenery exists here - just plain white marble, though even that is accentuated with dark black and blue every so often as if to further point out how perfect the rest of the area is. At the end of them are the dorms where those found to have an aptitude for darker magics get to stay - the House of Shadows. Like The Charmed Life, this dorm also cleans itself, but it doesn’t wait for anyone to ask it to: if a room is left completely alone, everything on the floor mysteriously disappears. Mind your bags, students - or leave them on the forest-islands that are a short walk away, provided you can stomach the swinging bridge and the wild noises of animals.

Finally, in stark contrast to either of the above, the Elemental Arts hallways are a starburst of color: neon and pastel and vibrancy mash together in a strange sort of pleasant manner - you weren't aware that neon orange was supposed to look so good next to that shade of red! Like the Charming Arts hallway, there's greenery here, too; unlike the Charming Arts hallway, however, every plot is in a different shade of season. Dead winter trees sit happily beside those with spring buds, with autumn leaves rolling across grass and flowers in full summer bloom. At the end of them are the dorms where those found to have an aptitude for the elements get to stay - Seasons' Greetings. More down-to-earth, this dormitory doesn’t have any of the bells or whistles the other two has, but fresh food does grow all around the dormitory, so maybe it isn’t all bad.

Every which way that you look for your first week, it appears as though Dorm Head Elections are in full swing!! Got anyone you feel like submitting for your possible residential overlord? Or maybe you're the one campaigning! Magic your name into the sky, or temporarily emblazon it on people's foreheads! That shows true leadership! And don't forget that regardless of dorm, you might want to check in with your roommate.

Magic isn't what Algos Academy is famous for however, and the flyers on the walls and the murmurs of your peers makes it clear what it is: the Assassin Course. Its classes dotting every hallway, mixing easily with magic and mundane, the Assassin Course is the academy's crown jewel and shining achievement! The world's finest assassins have graduated from the academy for years and years - but how, you might ask?

Well.

It's right there on your lapel: the circle of your pin, either implied or outright wrought, signifies the magic circle that surrounds the entire campus! A feat that defies death itself, this circle allows those who meet an unfortunate end or shuffle off this mortal coil one way or another to come back within 24 hours - no death is too permanent a death for this academy! Many students point out that if you stand out on the balconies at night, you can actually see the glow of the circle... It's totally romantic!

In the wake of the prom, the school is even more abuzz than usual with rumors of who's planning on promposaling who, who's going to be this year's murder monarch, and who really should not even try. Why not shoot for the moon yourself and send your own killer invite to the prom? The worst that can happen is that you get rejected! Or get marked for revenge. Oh, to be young and ambitious.
