( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?
Hope you found what you were looking for!

iii, with lwj sky-surfin'
She has a giant super soaker water gun hooked up to one of the soda dispensers, but she'll abandon this in favor of running over to LWJ immediately,]
Lan Lan! I want to do it too! Let me try! Please! Lan Lan!
[let okuni hurtle to her death on bichen please... ALSO PIXI I CAN'T DECIDE ON THE MEMORY, LET OKUNI SEE SAD SMALL CHILD LAN LAN WAITING OUTSIDE HIS MOM'S DOOR IG]
no subject
He hovers in the air for a minute, like he's debating which is the lesser evil, but apparently he decides that leaving Okuni to her own devices is the more dangerous choice, so he descends gracefully, dismounting. His sword seems to sheath itself in its scabbard, ~magically~.]
You cannot.
[Denied.
Meanwhile, READIES MY PAINBALL ROCKET LAUNCHER]
no subject
She does NOT LIKE THIS TREAT. This memory in particular is bad, in that a.) it's obviously a very intimate, personal memory that she absolutely cannot make fun of b.) LWJ in this memory is very young -- younger than when her and Baren lost their mother -- and Okuni's heart will always immediately go out to children no matter who they are and c.) that feeling of inescapable loneliness, of waiting for someone who will never come back, is so familiar. but there is no Baren sitting by his side, nor is he crying loud and long enough for someone to come and console him. he's just bearing it all on his tiny back, with his hands on his instrument only, staring at a door shut firmly in front of him.
Okuni does not immediately dive for the water pistol. Instead she goes very still, and places a hand on her face to cover her eyes, even though the corners of her mouth are visibly downturned.]
...I found one of your memories. [just that, because the whole point of this isn't to keep what she's seen to herself... even though a part of her wants to.] Do children always start playing an instrument at such a young age, or were you a special case?
no subject
It hasn't happened to him too much before this, though, so it's startling, to feel the memory slip away from him. It's obvious where it goes when she stills in front of him, and Lan Wangji frowns slightly, watching her warily. He sifts through his own memories, as he does, but whatever it is seems to be gone completely--the most he can sense is a gap from his childhood.
Ah... his guqin?]
Not all. It depends on the child. [In a normal family, anyway. But he and his brother were... sure, special, kind of.] However, my father was Sect Leader. And we rely heavily on musical cultivation.
[It was obvious that young Lan Wangji treasured his guqin, though, with how carefully he held it, how diligently he plucked the strings. He'd clearly worked hard, even though his hands were a little too small to play properly.]

Still, her heart hurts a little in the aftermath of that memory.]
...Did your mother play an instrument as well?
[The question feels abrupt, but as much as it is a memory that she thinks is painful and as much as she'd like to avoid speaking of it -- that's something for Lan Wang Ji to decide. It's ultimately his memory, not hers. Though the part of her that could be called selfish would have to admit that she is interested in his answer.]
no subject
She isn't asking out of the blue. It's obvious by the look on her face, by the way her tone has taken on that serious quality he remembers from Montevallo.
He has so few memories of his mother already. If he lost one of them--
--but it's not lost, is it? Okuni has it, and he thinks he's seen enough of her to know that she won't disrespect it. It's a strange thing to be sure of, when the only other person to share this is the brother who lived through it with him.]
No. [Lan Wangji's gaze has drifted away from her, but it's clear from the distant look in his eyes that whatever he's seeing, it's from a time long past. He's quiet for a long time, long enough that it seems as though that's going to be his only response.
Then, very quietly--]
...She enjoyed singing.
