( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.

When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.

The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.

It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?

Hope you found what you were looking for!

You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?

It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)

There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:

There's still much more ahead of you.

[ hot springs aren't exactly commonplace where she's from - neither is sharing baths, in the first place - but they do have her curiosity! she'd intended to go in when no one was around, and victorian propriety has her pausing once she sees beau.

it's in her nature now to observe, so eliza takes in the whole of her injuries (as well as she ca) from a fairly respectable distance; it's not that surprising to be found out either, though she makes certain her towel is around herself and her modesty is somewhat intact. her poor ankles though. ]

That was the plan, but the water seems much hotter than what I'm used to. [ and too hot of water can cause health issues, according to the male doctors of her time. then again, men are increasingly stupid, so maybe not. she's on the fence about believing everything that comes out without experiencing it herself. ] Are you finding it to your tastes, miss?

hell yea

[ beau seems totally at ease here, at least! she's used to public baths, which is almost the same thing as hot springs, in this context. she also is - very comfortable with her body, which means she doesn't make any sort of move to cover up at all when elizabeth makes her way in. in fact, she grins lazily and gives a wave. ]

It's not that bad. It feels good - I like it, anyway. [ beau pushes her hair back out of her face. ] I promise I don't bite. Come try it out.

[ her lips, unbidden, curl into an amused smile. "i promise i don't bite," hm? truly inspiring.

she will join her after a moment though, easing into the water and setting her towel aside. it does... feel nice, and is especially much more what she's accustomed to - when compared to their last world, at any rate. this is much more lavish than home. ]

We don't have such public baths back in London. We rarely have baths at all - while I used to have them as a child, moving to the city means I've had to leave behind some amenities. [ maybe her least favorite thing about moving into an apartment. she doesn't have many regrets or dislikes or anything in those realms, but her grandmother's wonderful clawed bathtub and the maids who'd help her with a little relaxation... ] Aside from those wealthy enough to have homes or space to themselves, really, baths are something seen far and few inbetween. Many things here have been quite a shock to me, but I find this the most notable thus far.

[ beau is respectful! mostly. look, she looks, but she doesn't ogle. she tilts her head back after, thinking that over. ]

London, huh? That's one of the places on Earth, right? [ she did some research in the mansion, thankfully. ] Sometimes I had to skip out on baths too on the road, so I get it. I'm taking advantage of this place as much as possible before it fucks us over.

You think it will?

[ like: it will. it probably will. she still doesn't trust this place, but she can't help asking anyway. ]

What, fuck us over? Yeah. Somehow.

And if it doesn't? I can be pleasantly surprised, but I'd rather be ready. It's all fun and fucking games until you find out the house you've been staying in wants you to murder one or more persons a week.

Would you like to talk about it.

I mean, not really. But if you wanna hear about it I can tell you.

[ ...mmmm. ]

If it isn't pertinent to our current situation, then I'd rather not. I admit, I'm quite curious, but... Not enough to risk bringing up memories or situations that may be painful for you to recall.

[personal profile] disreguarded 2020-04-21 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she sort of shrugs. ]

I wouldn't say painful. I'm not like, a wilting flower or anything, and it all turned out fine. What do you want to know, just like - everything?

Who knows. Maybe it'll be important to know to get out of this place.
illhearted: (04)

[personal profile] illhearted 2020-04-21 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she's just being considerate - some people don't appreciate their past being dug into! but if she's fine talking about it, then elizabeth won't hold back. ]

Everything, yes. Starting with the basics, I suppose... How did you find yourself in such a house? It sounds as if you had no idea what you were getting into when you crossed the threshold there.

I didn't exactly go there on purpose. I just woke up there, and so did the rest of us. There were like - thirty, or so? We were told we were invited, and we all accepted, but none of us remember that we accepted in the first place.

We were there for about a week, and then we woke up Friday morning to someone dead.
illhearted: (11)

[personal profile] illhearted 2020-04-22 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
So something like coming here, but not quite. I can assure you that you won't be waking up to any corpses this week.

[ in the next world? Who Knows, but that's circumstantial. ]

Who were you invited by?
disreguarded: [ᴠʏᴄᴏ] dnt <3 (48)

[personal profile] disreguarded 2020-04-22 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ she wrinkles her nose. she better not wake up to a corpse, she's super done with murders. ]

Master Blue. He... they? I don't know, they're hard to describe. But they were on our side. They brought us in to help against the house.
illhearted: (15)

[personal profile] illhearted 2020-04-22 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
So they weren't the ones doing the murders then. How nice. [ but then it sounds like the house was the cause. well - there are weirder occurrences now, she guesses. ] ...Is that where you received those injuries?
disreguarded: (13)

[personal profile] disreguarded 2020-04-23 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
We thought they were at first, but - yeah. They weren't. [ sniff. ] I did get the injuries from there, yep. We got into a huge fight with the house in order to get out, and it put up a fight.

...Pardon my rudeness. It's hardly the least believable thing I've heard, I admit, but it's still rather high up there. Given you're here now, I assume you won? Congratulations.

[ wow!! she looks grouchy at that, but. ]

Yeah, we won. It was a team effort, but thanks. [ she shifts, with just the slightest wince. ] Don't really see how a soul sucking house is any less believable than being dragged here by the horny broken soul police.

[ .......................beau that's a lot of words uh ]

Prior to my birthday a few weeks ago, I had no idea demons literally held London in the palms of their hands and operated out of a bar in East End no one could find if they were intentionally looking for it. My life has been extraordinarily regular, miss.

[ the heart thing aside but that's social link level 5 stuff ]
disreguarded: (37)

[personal profile] disreguarded 2020-04-25 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she's a master wordsmith ]

Regular up until the whole demons part, sure. Demons are pretty normal where I come from but there were a lot of people in the mansion that didn't think so. [ sniff. ] I guess this place has been a culture shock, then.
illhearted: (11)

[personal profile] illhearted 2020-04-28 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ London is EXTREMELY NORMAL............. very. ]

Quite, though I'm surprised to find there are many things I do recognize... Albeit only by news from America or in a more modern form. In example, the iceboxes in the store. [ The freezers, she means. ] The idea is the same as the storage we have back home, but the method is completely different.

Before I ended up at the House I'd never seen electricity used for lights before. It's pretty fucking awesome.

I was talking to someone about stealing microwaves and taking them home to try and get them to work. I'd be fuckin' rich.

[ she doesn't know what a microwave is because she's too classy to use one now and they don't exist yet, but it sounds lucrative. except-- ]

Presuming from your wiring situation, I assume it requires something similar. You'd have to invent that first.

To. Uh. I'll figure it out.
