( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

Hope you found what you were looking for!

[ is he really being nice, though? it's hard to tell with all that tsun getting in the way.
like... on one hand, izumi is relieved to see another familiar face in this strange void they've found themselves in - but on the other hand, it has to be leo of all people. so much for wanting to protect their (former) king while he's presumably back in florence, mooching off izumi's fridge or something.
well, at least that scenario hasn't changed much. izumi finishes chopping the vegetables and tosses them into the soup, and fixes leo a flat look. ]
...Unless you want coffee again. [ like he read his mind. ]
no subject
leo pauses at that for just a moment. one blink, two blinks... before he laughs, totally shamelessly, the tips of his fingers drumming lightly on the countertop to nothing in particular. ]
Wahahaha, that's messed up! What an upside down world! Nice Sena nagging me for showing up?
[ (tsukasa voice) oh my god!
yet he gets it, somehow. the familiarity is a nice crutch in the midst of all this unfamiliarity, and leo can't deny that there's less weight to the discomfort weighing in his chest now that he's seen izumi's face. yet there's also another side to it as a consequence.
oooh... give him another tiny moment to think as his drumming stops. maybe it's just him considering whether Just Coffee is an appropriate last meal, but he'll stop standing around now to wander around the kitchen. and izumi's cooking.
and! and he's helping, 'cause: ]
Hmmmmm. Where's Nice-Sena keep the cups?
[ yeah this is totally nice-sena's kitchen
and yeah, that was a successful mind read as always.
time for shelf-peeking/cupboard opening duty! this one, or this one, or this one— ]
no subject
[ it would've been easy to blame leo's propensity of wandering anywhere he pleases - even into some strange void - that he'd found himself here along with his knights, but izumi had promised himself not to be too hard on him anymore. still, there are so many questions that can't be readily answered just yet: why did three out of five members of knights have been spirited away? what pieces of themselves have they been missing? is there even a way to get back?
and it's why izumi's focusing on cooking his stress away. it sure beats bitching at anyone who's unfortunate enough to get in his way, so izumi really does mean it when he says that he's being nice right now. ]
Should be in the cupboard at the far left. Make me a cup too, will you?
[ minestrone soup and coffee. an odd combination, but leo's presence always makes things a little odd so izumi doesn't question it. he ladles soup into bowls and serves them up on the counter, crossing his arms as he watches leo attempt to make coffee.
...he should know how to make a basic cup of coffee, right? ugh, damn his own fussiness. ]
no subject
not like, literal flames… because yes, of course he’s at least capable enough for a simple cup of coffee, right?
right??? ]
Fiiiine. The nice feeling’s contagious!
[ with that, leo obliges.... though his theatrics don’t truly match the real difficulty of the decision. coffee’s about the simplest thing he can do in circumstances like these, and the act of making it helps keep his idle hands busy, so. streeeeetching for two cups and waddling around the kitchen to fiddle with the coffee maker? easy, easy.
in another universe everything does explode, but in this one? nope. if anything, the act of watching the coffee go is so weirdly tedious with the everything surrounding them, that it’s like watching paint dry. ]
Ahh… you think there’d be some kinda instant “think about it and... woah, it’s here!” thing in a place like this… But I guess the mundane mixed with the whimsical's interesting in its own way. Pretty slow, though!
[ it's only been like thirty seconds and will take minutes at most but. you know.
obviously he has put forth the most effort in this meal ]
no subject
the feeling of victory truly is fleeting, though, as he watches leo watching the coffeemaker whir and drip. sure love his lack of energy! go, king, give us nothing! ]
You can get instant coffee from one of those aisles if you want, but do you really expect me to drink shit like that? I'll kill you before you poison me with it.
[ think of his own health and wellbeing, leo! like how he's thinking of yours as well! but let's be real - even izumi trumps him when it comes to making his favorite beverage, and they both know it.
so with a sigh, he approaches leo and the coffee machine, clamping his hands down on the other's shoulders HARD as he moves him aside. ]
Fine, I'll make this one too. Just go eat what I made and let me know what you think of it.
[ in the end, leo's plan succeeded anyway, huh... damn him. ]
no subject
( ahah, no. izumi's is definitely better. )
it's a lie if you thought that he was going to make that easy, by the way, even when he's enabled into being the Laziest Ever. this is where izumi should be rewarded.... but nah.
leo, instead, just. kind of laughs. ]
I caught a glimpse of it in my mind's eye... ☆ Your cooking's always as balanced as your actions, isn't it, Sena? Nothing like instant coffee!
[ ah, god.
anyway, he's making his way to the food now. please don't shove him into the soup because he's at least going to offer a quick - ]
Thanks!
[ - since he can remember his manners for the wife sometimes, okay. sometimes. ]
no subject
haaahh. well, it's not like izumi truly hates taking care of people. if only certain people would know how to behave, though. the wife needs a break from the cooking, cleaning, and king-sweetening too, you know!
so he huffs at leo's thanks as he waves him off, figuring out the coffee machine, and a few moments later the glorious scent of coffee wafts through the air as izumi pours two cups for the both of them. only he made his an iced latte, since it's more to his classy taste. ]
Here. [ he says, deadpan, setting down leo's mug of freshly brewed coffee beside his bowl. ] You should be lucky I'm sparing you from all that instant crap. Now eat up.
[ don't make him dunk your head into the soup now. even if he's not going to touch his bowl yet. ]
no subject
Sure, sure! I'm definitely grateful for your cooking served with an extra side of spice. ♪
[ the way he says it in a half sing-song makes it sound like a joke but. well, he definitely is half poking fun.
he's also going to eat before he gets dunked like an oreo. it's still a little hot, so he blows on the spoon before taking a bite, and - ]
Woah, it's good!
[ please don't say that like it's a surprise ]
no subject
[ izumi hasn't made any attempts to stop him anyway, so.
anyway, back to business. whatever that is. he'll take a sip of his latte first. ]
So - what's the plan? Since we're going to be here a while, apparently.
[ unlike this lazyass, izumi would rather keep himself busy; it's either that or whine everyone's ears off until he gets what he wants. gonna take a while before the world finally throws him a bone. ]
no subject
anyway, it almost does seem like he ignored the question, as he keeps his gaze - and seemingly, his attention - on the meal in front of him. it's just another day....... another thursday in ensemble stars land...... getting poofed into another world....
except halfway into a casual sip he does kind of look over, so supposedly he had mulled on it a bit.
maybe. ]
If you eat slow, yeah!
[ they'll be here for hours.
and yes, he's being obtuse on purpose. with that, his mischievous grin settles down. ]
That super bouncy message... Did you see it when you woke up, Sena? It was kinda long so I just skimmed it [ of course ] but I think it said something about finding stuff we lost?
[ ah shit here we go again ]
We do that, I guess!
[ and leave it to leo to make such a vague thing the end all be all of this... this is not a plan, it is never a plan -
he's going back to his soup ]
no subject
it's so funny that izumi forgot to laugh. wouldn't it be funny if that were one of his fragments? boy. ]
Oh gee, that's a splendid idea, Leo-kun! Kasa-kun and I wouldn't have thought of the same thing!
[ he isn't laughing, but he sure is smiling - and that's usually a bad thing, as far as everyone in knights is concerned. the sarcasm is practically dripping into the soup. ]
And how, pray tell, do we do that? One of the people who told me more details about our situation suggested that I should try stabbing somebody, you know. Would you like me to try it out on you? We're inside a kitchen, in case you forgot. ♪
[ uh oh. ]
no subject
also what kind of company is izumi keeping, jesus christ. probably the same kind as this guy, honestly, because he doesn't even seem phased by the Super Intense suggestion. or, well, actually - leo does kind of scrunch his nose, so maybe it was Too Intense?
mmm. ]
Gross! Rejected! I don't like it! [ don't commit attempted murder? er, no, no, that's not right. leo is brandishing his spoon a little, it's definitely not that - ] Not with a knife, Sena! If you're gonna do that, find a sword and stab me properly...!
[ ugh
stick to fucking theme you neanderthal. they're not thugs, they're knights-- ]
no subject
but he's totally not amused, so he raises a hand to deliver a hard flick on leo's forehead. ]
That's beside the point, you moron! We are not killing each other while we're here, so don't even try my patience!
[ regicide is practically the norm in knights at this point... and it's izumi's fault why leo takes it lightly.
but alas, a burden like that wasn't one of the fragments he'd lost on the way here. if only that were reason to forget someone's sin for the time being. ]
no subject
oooouuch. leo's flinch back when izumi makes contact with his forehead is comedic and tiny, but he does end up raising up his free hand to rub where he's been oh-so-cruelly abused. um, not that he didn't deserve that... probably. ]
You started it and I get smacked, huh?! [ grrrr ] Mm, though I ended it pretty morbidly...
[ - yes. obviously. so he won't fight it besides that. not that that was ever a real possibility, considering the chances of him ever physically hurting izumi like that are below zero. or, er, anyone really... but the concept of turning his blade on sena seems especially... hm?
anyway, before that, izumi did say something, didn't he? give him a second to take a not-pouty sip of coffee before he moves past their horrible hypothetical- ]
Ok~ay, next. What other stuff didja hear? [ leo does look seriously-curious enough about this one, but he's quick to add in with a bit more fervor: ] If it's more bait, keep it quiet and I'll just imagine the rest...! I'm not gonna fall for it twice!
[ this is your fault okuni ]
no subject
izumi totally wasn't baiting him, though! the topic just came up! damn you, okuni. he hums thoughtfully as he finally takes a sip of the soup, feeling a little proud at how nicely he made it. ]
Something about hopping into another world in a few days or so. Could be modern or ancient - nobody really knows. But somewhere in those worlds are pieces of ourselves that we've got to get back, if we want any chance of getting home.
[ a heavy sigh, like he couldn't believe it. because he really can't? he isn't like these two kings who can - god forbid - have fun. ]
It's ridiculous. Is it not too late to turn back? Or at least replace myself with someone else? Bet Kuma-kun would love it here. [ no ]
