( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?
Hope you found what you were looking for!

Utsutsu looks down. She doesn't disagree, but she does remember thinking she didn't deserve one once. Sometimes, it's hard for kindness to touch a person, but even if she doesn't know Sizhui's circumstances, she does know one thing.
She looks up. ]
He was happy.
[ In at least that one moment, Sizhui was safe and happy. Because of Lan Wangji. ]

Much of his early life was difficult. [AN UNDERSTATEMENT but Utsutsu herself is still very young, to him, so he's not going to go into detail about WAR CRIMES.] But he was [and is] deeply loved. It was no hardship carry on.
[And if he loved Sizhui all that much more because of what he represented, because he was all Lan Wangji had left, then it was no one's business but his own.]

[ She returns his smile. From what she's seen, even though he's quiet, he cares deeply. He cares so much, and that makes him a good person. He's a good person, and no one can change her mind.
The memory that he receives is a little less quiet than the one that flew away from him. In a collapsing tunnel, there is genuine surprise when Utsutsu is thanked, a sudden realization that her powers don't make her a meaningless existence or some kind of failure, that her very touch won't always harm people. That realization leads to a just as sudden desperation to help and save all the injured people even at the expense of her own energy (and life, as is pointed out). ]

It's fortunate that, by now, he's been through this enough to know what's coming, and brace himself for the effects. That doesn't make it any easier to see her, so young, so desperate to save others at her own expense.
It's a feeling he relates to, though not one he would wish on anyone else.
When he opens his eyes, he looks at her again, his eyes soft.]
You care, too.
no subject
She doesn't know what he saw or what she doesn't remember anymore, but she nods. There are some things she cares about more than others, but... now, she can see more than what's wrong. ]
I want to help people.
no subject
You did.
[Lan Wangji isn't the type of man to lie, or give empty reassurances. He says it like it's simple fact, because from what he saw, it is.]
An accident?
no subject
A tunnel collapsed. I was in a bus. Others in cars...
[ They were in more danger. ]
no subject
[She wasn't focused on it, at the time, of course--too concerned with every other person who needed her. But Lan Wangji saw the smiles, the relief her actions had brought.]
There was a man with you. He offered his life force as well.
[He doesn't presume to know their relationship, of course. But he does know that, at that point in time, Utsutsu had had someone watching over her. It's reassuring, if only slightly.]
no subject
[ She nods. ]
We work together. As Gatchaman.
[ That is the best way to describe it. They care about each other, but how they met was because of the work they do. ]
no subject
[He repeats the term very carefully; he wants to get it right.]
That is your duty?
no subject
To protect the world with our wings.
[ She crosses an arm across her chest. ]

no subject
It may make a little sense in a few moments because Utsutsu takes out a notebook, holds it in front of her chest, and says: ]
Bird, go.
[ Insert transformation sequence that's half magical girl and half sentai.
Gatcha. ]
no subject
That sure wasn't what he expected!! There's surprise evident on Lan Wangji's face, because THAT WAS A LOT, but after a moment, it fades, and he's back to looking at her thoughtfully.]
It protects you?
[He is glad his not!daughter can fulfill her dream of helping people, but--it pains him, a little, to think that it's at the expense of her own life. Can this... outfit, thingy?? Help her?]
