( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?
Hope you found what you were looking for!

He can mean well all he wants. I'm not fucking abiding by some asshole thinking it's cool to hit his nephew so much and so hard that his nephew flinches from other people. [ a pause. ] Sometimes people need an outside opinion. Even if they think it's nobody's business.
Besides. Jin Ling made it my business. So. [ anyway. she adjusts her beanie again. ]

Speaking of, I'd love to hear what sort of backstory you and Nie Huaisang have worked out! [Since he's pieced things together through the clues he's picked up on so far - everything from her slip with Huaisang's name to the bracelet to the fact that she's not worried about the political red tape surrounding Jin Ling.]
Can't be an esteemed guest if you aren't a cultivator and you don't bear enough resemblance to claim blood relation... The dear man knows his own reputation well enough to avoid appointing an external advisor right now, but that doesn't leave many options, if we're looking at positions of influence.
[He shoots her a curious glance, head cocked to the side.]

I don't have a backstory yet, but I'll work on it once I get back in contact with him. [ evading!! the question!! ]
no subject
Apparently he's satisfied enough with that answer, for whatever reason, since he doesn't press.]
Hah, no need to bristle, I won't press. Some plates, if you would! Over there-- [Gesturing! Do food court kitchens even have actual plates, are they just gonna be eating off of fancy paper ones, A Mystery...] Come! Let's enjoy a meal. There are tables outside - not that there's much but empty space to look at, either way.

This place is fucking weird. [ she's going to brush past all that nosiness goodbye ] Like, at least the House was a house. This place is just a big, empty void. Wigs me out.
[ she follows him outside, regardless. ]
no subject
BUT OUT THEY GO he's just carrying the wholeass pot with him, his now. He also takes some rice because you can't eat curry without it?!]
Does it? It's entertaining, though - you can hop onto the tracks going overhead and your hair and clothes will stay as if you're standing on the ground!
[Here is a man who just wanders out into the void for funsies though... He continues talking as he dishes out hearty portions for both of them, hell yeah.]
Anyway, there are plenty of actual locations to enjoy if you don't want to keep staring at nothing. Like the airport! The airport is nice; it's constantly snowing over there and it's always evening, so it has a peaceful feeling.

girl can take some spice. ]
Airport? [ what is an airport ] Man, I miss snow, actually. You'll have to point me in the right direction. Sounds like the kind of place I'd like to nap in.
I gotta admit, there's a lot of shit here that I've never seen before.
no subject
I'll show you the way! It's a lovely place to be. The whole thing is set up like a-- mm, it's a building with big windows where people wait for their flights. Airplanes take travelers from country to country in the future and the airport is where they pick them up and drop them off. It has lots of seating, cafes, things like that.
[So yes, perfect for napping in as far as he's concerned. HE NAPS THERE CONSTANTLY. She gets a sympathetic look, then.]
I was in the exact same situation when I first arrived! For better or worse, you end up keeping a lot of the native knowledge of worlds you adapt to, though. Now I have a delightfully bizarre mix of understanding when it comes to technologies and cultures in the 1920s and a few somewheres in the 2000s, haha.
no subject
I've read up some. There was a library in the house, and it had stuff from a bunch things based on the worlds we all came from, but like. Seeing it is way different? [ she wrinkles her nose at him. ] Man, even the numbers barely make sense. It's 835 PD in Exandria, which is the world I'm originally from.
But I think Hunter's from the 2000s? So I know... that much.
no subject
Haha, I know! We tell time in an entirely different way where I come from, too. Year two or three of this or that emperor's reign, so on. [Waves a hand... Rip to the emperor in MDZSverse who has to deal with their shit.]
I think it translates to around 400 AD by the calendar a lot of people here tend to use, so 1,600 years before the start of the 2000s. A lot can change in almost two thousands years, hm? I'd love to take some of the inventions back with me once we go.
[And when he says "I'd love to" he absolutely means "I'm gonna take plumbing and electricity back to ancient fantasy China, fuck up the timeline and get wiped out by the Retrograde Army from Touken Ranbu, probably".]
no subject
At least you were kind of on Earth. [ huff. ] But I'd love to take some of the stuff to Exandria, too, like - I'd be the inventor of electricity and that'd be dope as hell.
I don't know how I'm gonna go back to torches.
no subject
Right? Right? Isn't it a horrible thought! Knowing how convenient technology makes life in the future, all I would be thinking about is how this or that could have made any given situation infinitely easier. Do you think we could smuggle back microwaves for whenever we become the inventors of electricity? That would be nice.
[He's going to miss cheap easy ways to cook food in literal minutes... MICROWAVES!!]
