( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?
Hope you found what you were looking for!

[A gentle, sloping shrug follows. He doesn't know too much otherwise though, considering his generation got tossed wholeass into a war by the time he was 18. Needless to say, the teens in his time had Other Worries.]
Not the best-feeling way to live, hm?

Had to sacrifice my gaming time just to pretend to be someone I'm not, so that was a total wash. But I guess one of the best parts of pulling off an act like that is meeting someone who could see right through you anyway? Kind of sharing a secret between the two of you.
[ a smile tugs at the corner of his lips as the little memory slots right back into his mind, but itaru can't help but think that there's still something missing. sorta like there's a continuation to this story but he couldn't find disc 2 for some reason. very strange.
but anyway, he waves his hand. ]
But whatever. That was hella random though, let me tell you.

[He wonders if it was worth it, meeting someone who can see through a ruse in exchange for being able to live authentically... But he'll hold the question to himself for the time being.
Instead, canting his head curiously:]
The memory itself or the fact that I ended up with it? Seems like another stroke of bad luck for all of us, hah.

[ itaru doesn't like it, lol. he values his privacy so much and the reason why he hasn't been keeping to himself lately is because he's still living on the high of being in an isekai situation. but even the lightnovels and anime that tackle the genre aren't this... invasive to their characters? at least in his opinion.
anyway, he'll shake his head. ]
But yeah, there's someone like that back home. It's been a while since I met him, but - having someone who completely gets you can be a real saving grace, IMO.
[ he says that, and yet.. ugh, why can't he figure it out!! ]

Who's to say? Might have something to do with fostering bonds as a way to give people more to relate or attach to in other worlds.
[Thus being able to recover more pieces of themselves because they'll Feel More Feelings... perhaps. But his sloping shrug speaks everything he could say about it, which is a big fat "idk". His interest is piqued by the talk of Itaru's friend, though!]
Do the two of you still talk, even if it's been a while?
no subject
[ itaru is sure that other people would feel the same way too, but there really isn't anything they can do about it right now, at least until they get isekai'd again. what a hassle. ]
But, uhh... Sorta? We actually met again after a long while, when his company hired my theater troupe to organize a stageplay adaptation of one of my favorite videogames. We were pretty close in high school too, so it was a pretty nice reunion in the end.
[ the easy smile crops up after relieving that memory that he'd gotten back from promworld. who knew he'd find someone like that again in their spunky little group here? ]
no subject
CUTE, THOUGH. He grins a little in turn.]
Hah, wonderful! What luck. Surprise reunions are the best kind, especially when they go well, don't you think?
[Surprise reunions that go badly usually end in attempts on his life SO HE HAS TO SPECIFY.]
It really sounds like you had a lot of work with that troupe of yours back home, hm?
no subject
[ OH IF ONLY HE KNEW IT ACTUALLY WENT BADLY. that's for future itaru to remember! ]
But I remember now. I miss the guys at Mankai, honestly. Most of us are complete amateurs when it came to acting, but our director never gave up on us. She... didn't give up on me in particular, too.
[ his smile's distant and wistful. he remembers now, all too well, thanks to promworld. WHICH TOTALLY SOLIDIFIES HIS THEORY OF REGAINING FRAGMENTS FROM WORLDS THAT MEAN MORE TO SOMEONE ON A MORE PERSONAL LEVEL? holy shit, he's a genius.
but anyway he'll pause on those sentimental memories a tad. ]
Don't you guys have theater back home too?
no subject
Sounds like a good person to know. [Said with a little quirk of a smile that might have just a tiiiny teasing edge to it... His goblin heart can't help it. As far as theaters go:]
Not really anything like the theaters you know, but we did have performances and productions and traveling troupes, yes! The fanciest ones would retell famous stories or folksongs, but some smaller organizations would just put on fun shows on the roadside.
