( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently? In addition, characters will find that they've been allowed to bring back souvenirs from this most recent trip - trinkets, nothing violent, but items that can fit in your character's pockets, whether that be sentimental or otherwise.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. For those who have been here a while, they might notice some expansions. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
It might've changed since the last time you saw it. Today it reads:
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin. In addition to that, it seems like Home Base is on the fritz again…?
It seems that suddenly and at random, characters will be able to suddenly see visions of memories that aren't their own flash before their eyes. Pieces of your lives or where you were before this will suddenly slam into other's heads, as clearly as if they experienced the event and the feelings themselves. You might have an inkling of where your memory went and what it was - but you'll need to talk it out with that person in order to recollect it in all its strength back to yourself. Don't you want to keep those precious parts of yourself? It's best if you don't fall more to pieces while you're here. (Memories that have been lost in fragments cannot be sent to others - that's more fun for the future!)
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Or maybe you'll get a glimpse of where you're going next. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

(*´ω`)o That wasn't so bad, was it?
Hey, you know how that old song goes?
Do you believe in magic? (☆▽☆) Do ya?
Hope you found what you were looking for!

[This isn't the first or the last time it's happened. He's not sure if he'll get use to it actually. Not when all that's flung forward are terrible and painful.
Lan Wangji gets this memory.
The emotions are rough, almost as rough as how Sasuke feels. He's used so much chakra; he's drained, exhausted to the bone. He's so tired, and not just physically. His body is sore and battered, aching. His heart aches. He's angry, he's so angry, and he's scared, too.
Itachi terrifies him in this moment, trying to steal his eyes, Sasuke thinks.
It can't end this way, he's worked too long, and too hard to get here. To defeat Itachi. When his body shrinks up against the rock, he's hopeless not for the first time in his life. How can a brother you adored and devoted yourself to become such a monster?
There's nothing to feel when two fingers press into his forehead. The familiarity is numb, dead. The brotherly, affectionate jab pierces his heart like an ice-cold lance. He doesn't know whether to be overjoyed at the victory, or anguished at the loss. The tension very painfully and very quickly zips away from him, and all he knows is he's so very tired as he begins to drop toward the ground himself.
Sasuke swallows afterward, both hands clenched so hard at his sides his knuckles are white.]

There's little he can do besides try to catch his breath.
Lan Wangji comes back to himself, and without thinking, his eyes go to Sasuke's forehead, right where Itachi tapped him.]
i forgot i came for your life twice wow
His hands flex open and shut again, and his exhale is long.]
yeah thanks a lot!!!!
But this memory is not his to keep. It is not for him to decide what to do with it.
His gaze flicks downwards, then, between them. When he speaks, it is simple and quiet.]
I received a memory of your brother.
no subject
Something good. Something good. Please. But Lan Wangji's reaction means it wasn't something good. Out of all the things he could give, the ones he covets the most.
It wasn't something good.
Slowly, his head lifts, lips thin.] Itachi. [His brother.] What was it? [It sounds like he wants to know and doesn't all at once.]
no subject
Is the craving for power truly so strong, that it extends through every single world?]
You fought. [A pause.] He... sought your eyes.
no subject
Mm. [He doesn't... recall entirely. It's fuzzy. Feels like it's having a hard time coming back.] He wanted to obtain the eternal sharingan.
By taking my eyes and putting them in his own.
no subject
Lan Wangji doesn't say that of course. He may or may not be thinking it, but that's not important. He doesn't ask what an "eternal sharingan" is, either--likely, it's something of great power. Isn't it always about power?
What Lan Wangji does say, after a long pause, is:]
...He chose not to, in the end.
no subject
[In truth, he's not sure Itachi would have taken his eyes. Maybe Itachi would have, to show him he wasn't ready. To prove he had to work harder to have the strength to stop him.]
...So I took his instead.
no subject
Do you have it, here?
[Or was it taken from him?]
no subject
To obtain the eternal sharingan, you have to take the eyes of an Uchiha. A sibling is better. He wanted my eyes because his were failing. It's the price you pay for using the sharingan extensively. I had someone transplant his eyes into mine after he died.
I have it here, yes.
no subject
There is no peaceful transfer?
no subject
There would never be any peace to transferring your eyes to someone else.
no subject
looks away
and thinks about Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan
and contributes helpfully to the conversation with:]
Hm.
no subject
Not for us anyway.
[He didn't like the sound of that 'hm,' honestly.]
The Uchiha hold one of the three greatest eye techniques. Losing your eyes as a ninja is suicide.
