[mingle] world three: claws & fangs.

world three:
claws & fangs.

With the Space at your back, your next step lands on the soil of a winding footpath. It seems you just missed a sunshower: light shines through the raindrops clinging to the lush canopy overhead, dappling the ground and your fellow travelers in midday sun. Trees are in full flourish everywhere you look, filling the air with the light fragrance of fruit and flowers. Fresh breezes contrast with the warming spring air, and birdcalls overlap softly with a burbling, full stream. In the distance, the sound of wooden wheels shake down a packed dirt road. If you peek through the vegetation, you may be able to make out ornate carriages drawn by oxen or horse. Smaller wooden rickshaws weave through the traffic, and if you're lucky, you may spot one of the rare cars (not a seatbelt in sight!) puttering its way through.

As Original Individuals take inventory of the world around them, they'll realize that there's a letter in their pocket...?

Or Are You Just Happy to See Me? (˵ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°˵)
(*´ω`)o Here we go again! This might be a refresher for some of you buuuuut!

If you want any chance of going home again, to your family, friends, loyal dog or whatever, you're all gonna have to try to put yourselves back together! The easiest way to do that is to regain the pieces of yourself that you've lost - and those pieces are gonna be more likely drawn to your soul the more you feel.

That's right! Feelings! You lone wolf types are probably shaking! (ꐦ ಠ皿ಠ )

The same is true for all your sweet ol' friends who have tapped into the alternate version of themselves here. (」゜ロ゜)」 They have to experience meaningful moments in order to regain pieces of themselves too! So laugh! Cry! Question your meaning for living! Don't lose sight of the goal which is to just like, experience stuff really. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ All you've got is each other!

Don't get too downtrodden if they don't recognize you right away though - your bonds will never be broken, true friends are never that far apart, kyahhh. o(*≧□≦)o .... aka they're more likely to want to talk to you than you think.

And besides, you'll only all be able to make it home if you all collectively regain enough pieces of yourselves. ヾ(o✪‿✪o)シ

Yayyyyyyy. (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ Teamwork. Make use of Home Base to touch base with each other if you can!

(*・▽・*) A. Ny. Who.

Welcome to Kōun, the Blessed Country. Look out overhead. (・□・;)

Original Characters will then find themselves with a semi-brief summary of what their Remixed life would have been - and this time around it includes a helpful sentence blurb for each of their relationships to others, as well as the climate of the town around them, recent politics included. For those of you who haven't crafted possible Remixed lives, you'll only get:

( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) Um… Backstory not found?

Just do yourself a favor and don't wander onto the wrong side of town. Kind of a big deal around here. Whoa! Deja vu!

The tiny country of Kōun, so named for its lucky and prosperous lands, sprawls out before you. A few steps in and the path splits off, leading in two directions. One branch goes toward the oceanside town of Umite, while the other heads up to the mountainous town of Yamate.

Umite offers a vivacious scene. The weather here is warmer with very little cloud coverage most days, but the sun is tempered by a constant, cooling breeze. The ports are noisy and hopping with business. Bars and restaurants are always full, and parties and gatherings often spill out onto the streets. Here, humans and demons thrive together with minimal conflict. You're just as likely to run into demon employees and patrons as you are human ones in any given establishment. Houses and businesses are often only one or two floors tall and closely packed together, made primarily of bamboo and sturdy woods. Many locals take to decorating their places with wind chimes, colorful fortune kites, and banners. Modern amenities like electricity and plumbing are also common.

Head out to the white sand beaches and you'll find a large and popular bonfire area used for picnics, sunset drinks and fireworks after dark. Up the boardwalk is a small aquatic history museum for those who need a break from the liveliness of the town. It offers intriguing displays of fossils and preserved specimen of ancient, long-gone creatures. Clusters of boating merchants gather around docks and ports, waving and giving a jovial holler to people who pass by. They sell everything from deliciously fresh fruits and fish to hand-crafted pots to exquisite jewelry from their floating shops. From sunrise to well after sunset, Umite is alive and bustling. But surely there's more to these towns than meets the eye.

Yamate provides a stark contrast. With the forest's canopy so thick in the mountains, the sun offers less heat the deeper you travel. The light here is thin and the temperature is on the cooler side year-round. There's a tendency for fog and mist to gather around its peaks. Locals to this area have not had as much exposure to cultural blends as Umite, so tension between humans and demons is more palpable here, and people seem a little more likely to keep to themselves in general. The businesses and homes of Yamate are much more spread out and spacious, with the building materials of choice being white marble and stone. Residents seem to favor pristine appearances and clean aesthetics, along with open-air designs and high ceilings. It's quite common to find a shop or home with glass-less windows and patios that open directly into the surrounding forests.

One of the biggest draws of Yamate is an enormous meditation chamber. It offers patrons the chance to calm their minds in times of stress, clean their energy, and center their spirits. Another popular destination is the acoustics hall located between the two oldest trees in the forest. It's a perfect place for any musically-inclined folks to practice their instruments or de-rust their pipes, as it offers perfect resonance. Further up in the mountains, an expansive bonsai garden is open to the public. In addition to rare species of trees and a legendary sakura that blooms off-season, there are many unique sculptures donated by a local famed volcanic glass artist before their passing. You may also hear some stray rumors about cursed castle ruins. Hidden high on a forgotten mountain peak, this castle supposedly devours anyone foolish enough to enter its walls, with a preference for newborns... but it's probably nothing to worry about. Unless you want to take a peek inside?

Connecting both sides of the country from the mountain peaks to the ocean are a network of rivers that vary in size. Some are barely large enough to be considered rivers, while others have fast-moving currents and are tens of feet deep. Buildings along the waterfronts here are often raised on stone walls or stilts in the event that the rivers swell, which they often do during the rainy seasons. Networks of much smaller streams branch off between rivers, cutting paths through the forests and towns. At the halfway point between Yamate and Umite, one river leads to a gorgeous, mid-sized waterfall. Rumor has it that this waterfall has magical properties.

On each side, there is a small post office that you can drop letters and parcels off at for delivery. Strangely, the sole deliveryman and two overseers of the offices seem to bear an uncanny resemblance to each other... You can also find one single ancient computer nestled in each town's respective library. Despite the fact that there are only two in the whole country, they don't seem to be very popular just yet. Maybe that has to do with the fact that you can only use them to play Pong. Every now and then, they may also serenade you with The Dial-up Screech™. Enjoy!

Beyond that, regardless of where you travel and what you get up to, both sides of Kōun seem to be bustling with a little extra energy lately. There's plenty of buzz about the upcoming Demon Market Grand Opening from stall owners and prospective customers alike, and some people may pull you over to poll you on what you want to see out of it. More food stalls? Less unruly foot traffic? The world is your oyster! The Night of Demons Parade that will happen several weeks after it also seems to be generating a lot of excitement.

You might also catch wind of a meteor shower set to light up the sky at night - but you know what they say about curiosity and cats, don't you? Anyone outside when this shower hits may find that it's much larger than anticipated, with several flashes and flares of light rocketing straight toward the ground. Though no one is killed and mass destruction doesn't seem to be the goal, one thing is clear... This tiny country is in for some big changes. The gods presiding over it have decided to test its dedication to peace and coexistence, and with this, they offer the start of their challenge: Humans (OU and AU alike) who are too close to these falling meteorites may find themselves transforming into demons. Some change all at once, while others transform slowly over time. That same night, three demons among you will develop unusual physiological differences and abilities, chosen by the gods to become Maou.

That evening, everyone will share the same dream. A swirling darkness that will begin to encroach on their most beloved places - where they might have grown up or shared in vulnerable moments with friends. A shadow that begins to envelop their loved ones until they're disappeared into dust - or an image of their corpse flashes before their eyes, withered and rotten. When they wake up, even though they might not knowhow to fix their problem, they'll know that they are meant to search for the Maou. Any additional answers might take a bit of investigating.

With the stage set, it's time to see if Kōun can live up to its name.

[ He gets to choose his own name... This should be fine, though, since it really can't get any worse than people picking up P3 and naming him "weed man" or however that meme goes.

But alright, let's see what his options are. ]
stressweets: Sometimes, being afraid can stop you from doing something that you love. But hiding behind these fears means you're only hiding from your true self. It's much better to face those fears so you can shine and be the best pony you can possibly be. (049. filli vanilli)

[ Hm... Hmmmm... ]

Date, Mori, or... [ ...Oh. ] Sushi?

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-04-28 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[ He immediately perks up at the name "Sushi" and holds up three fingers.

There was no contest. It's like naming your pet, you can't go wrong with food, and Tsukasa is the one saying it out loud the entire time so he has nothing to be embarrassed about. ]
stressweets: "You didn't do anything wrong. You're allowed to share things that don't include me." "And you're allowed to feel a little jealous about it. You just have to be able to admit that that's what you're feeling so you can let it go!" (024. what about discord?)

[personal profile] stressweets 2020-04-28 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sushi it is. [ What a weird guy. Oh, maybe he likes sushi too though......... He'll be a prime target to steal from later then- ] Let's go, Sushi-san. Sena-san -- he guards the forest -- shouldn't bother us... Or if he does, I'll handle it. We're friends.

[ """""""""""""""""FRIENDS""""""""""""""""""""" ]

[ Tsukasa had better like bread and carrots because that is all Minato ever carries with him. He'd be better off stealing money from Minato and using that to buy real food, but there'll be plenty of bread to be shared between them once they get to a good stopping point for a snack break.

At the mention of Sena's name, Minato smiles a little. He spreads his arms outwards to either side of him, taps his right pointer finger to his left wrist, and points at Tsukasa. ]
stressweets: It's not all about singing and presents. The singing and presents are all about celebrating the ponies in our lives. The ponies we should listen to more often: our friends. (039. a hearth's warming tail)

You met him before you met me? [ Sasuga, Sushi-san. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-04-30 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's not what he meant, but Tsukasa isn't wrong and so Minato nods and smiles again, full of fondness at the thought of Sena.

But he also gestures off into the distance, and then gestures at himself with a bit of a frown. ]
stressweets: She'd trust you to solve the problem your way. Maybe we should all do the same. Doing this our way is what Rarity wants. (145. the saddle row review)

[ Please don't let Tsukasa win at charades by him technically not being wrong. Please don't.

But that's a very... vague set of gestures, and Tsukasa slowly tilts his head, questioning before he just

turns forward and coughs into his fist. He didn't see any charades. It's fine- ]

We'll be alright, Sushi-san. [ Mmhmm... Yep... Super great... Into the dark and not dangerous at all forest they go... Save for, perhaps, some birds who might recognize Tsukasa and attack them, but it's fine. ] I am curious about how you lost your voice... Did you slight the wrong person? I've heard tales of mean witches who curse those that do.

[ not that he could tell if minato confirmed or denied this considering he is not looking anymore but that's not the point. maybe. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-05-02 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If I don't give people these wins, I'm going to be stuck playing charades with them for two months trying to figure out one word like I am with Francy.

There's some movement in Tsukasa's periphery that he doesn't catch because he's not looking at Minato, and unfortunately Minato isn't the sort of person to reach out for physical contact when he wants to bring attention back to himself.

At least he makes it a little clearer when he walks through the woods when he means to take the helm of getting them through the forest. Mostly he has them pointed towards the closest mountain peak, although it's soon clear why he keeps getting turned around in the forest. Whenever there's a mass of trees or bramble or gentle hill in the way, he opts to go around than through or over, and, like water, he keeps trying to find the path of least resistance- level paths and gentle slops that do the opposite of bringing them up a mountain. ]
stressweets: Just because somepony is ladylike doesn't make her weak. In fact, by using her wits, a seemingly defenseless pony can be the one who outsmarts and outshines them all. (097. a dog and pony show)

[personal profile] stressweets 2020-05-05 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Card, I'm at least slightly better at charades than Francy is. It would only be one month.

But oh, he sees why Minato's not getting anywhere. Tsukasa stops him at one of these obstacles - let's make it brambles - and tugs on his sleeve. ]

You'll make more progress if you go through it, Sushi-san. [ Please... ] I think you're just getting turned around trying to take the easy way. I prefer that as well, but youth don't grow unless they face some troubles, correct? I think that's how it goes.

[ ...close enough. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-05-06 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ I tried so hard with Francy and in the end they're both going to drown in lava.

To Minato, drowning in lava might be preferable to climbing, because he's done enough of that in canon and... nnnngh. It's true, though. Can't climb the mountain if he skirts around the base of it forever hoping for somebody to build a ski lift.

He begrudgingly trudges through the bramble... It tears against his pants. But- he pauses for a moment and points up up up at the nearest mountain peak, which isn't even the tallest peak here but is still very high. Does Tsukasa think they'll have to climb all the way up there? Will they be able to manage? ]
stressweets: Bein' honest sure gets hard when it seems like the truth might hurt somepony you care about. But I think believin' a lie can end up hurtin' them even more. Maybe some ponies don't care about that – but I sure ain't one of them. (018. leap of faith)

[personal profile] stressweets 2020-05-06 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ Tsukasa follows his pointing, up up up... It's not even the tallest one but that is very up, isn't it......... He hopes they don't have to go up that far, especially if there's more brambles in the way. He hates them and how they insist on catching on his very pretty kimono. ]

Maybe they're halfway up the mountain, [ more to himself than in response to Minato, because he's assuming Minato's point up at the peak like, "this is where we have to go" rather than asking anything. ] That'd be nice. My feet'll hurt if we have to go all the way up there...

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-05-07 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The mental image of Tsukasa climbing mountains in a kimono, while Minato's clothes are always in varying states of torn and bloody...

Minato nods vaguely while staring up the mountain, and then tears his eyes away like maybe it won't be too bad if he doesn't look at the finish line and constantly guage how far away it is. He points at Tsukasa's feet, and then holds his hands up, palms faintly glowing blue-whie. Without touching Tsukasa, this does nothing except waste energy, and maybe convey an intention. ]
stressweets: Everypony has fears, Scootaloo. Everypony must face them in their own way. But they must be faced, or the nightmares will continue. [...] Face your fears! (088. sleepless in ponyville)

[personal profile] stressweets 2020-05-08 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ One of them is elegant and the other just walks a lot, it's fine.

Oh... That's magic, isn't it? Tsukasa tilts his head one way, then does a little "ah-ha!" motion with his fist on his palm. ]

You'll make them feel better if they do~?

[personal profile] compendiem 2020-05-09 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ Mostly right, yeah! He can heal them if their feet get injured, but the initial injuring will still unfortunately happen. But he'll be able to help them both keep going, both healing and provisions to keep their bodies strong, and Tsukasa will be tasked with keeping their spirits up.

Not too difficult when Minato looks happy enough just to have a travelling companion, somebody to tug the sleeves at when a low growl can be heard from somewhere to the left side of them, the sound filtered through the thick fog, whereas on his own he would have just taken stock of the noise and kept going. ]
stressweets: Just had the coolest adventure with the coolest pony ever. Came this close to blowing it because I got so wrapped up in how awesome she was, I almost forgot about how awesome I was. Good thing I didn't, 'cause it gave me a chance to show her how important it is to put your trust in somepony else. (013. daring don't)

[personal profile] stressweets 2020-05-19 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ Minato's so easy to handle.... What's less easy to handle is the growl, which Tsukasa's head jerks towards and he stops in his tracks, staring to the left. It occurs to him he's never... actually been in this far in the forest without Sena before, and his tail puffs up. ]

Please keep qui— [ ..................he's mute, he has to keep quiet. Tsukasa clears his throat and continues on, listening. ] Rather... Please stay alert.
