welcome mingle
( AND SO IT BEGINS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
Well - that, and all the people who seem to have woken up alongside you, lost and also probably Doing Their Best™.
There's no need to fret that much though. It's hard to say exactly where you're going next, even though some places might feel a little bit more like a clue, but what you do know is one unshakeable thing:
There's still much more ahead of you.

Yes, yes! Trains! [He. He also doesn't know what a firefighter is because they didn't have organized firefighting in 200 AD fantasy China, they had cultivators who took care of everything that went wrong.
At least he can extrapolate. FIRE AND FIGHTER, HE'S GOT THIS ONE. Galo is a fire cop.]
Ah! I see, I see. That makes sense, then - that you would be used to donating your time and help to others.

[ :)
but he'll just help himself to another hot pocket, tossing it up in the air before catching it in his mouth]
How about you? What do you do? Professional snack taster?!
no subject
Who's this hero of yours? Is he also out there fighting fires?
[He's just imagining that all of Galo's friends love pizza and are fire cops now. HE'S NOT EXACTLY WRONG.
Also he's absolutely laughing again at the question, waving one hand dismissively. THe other reaches for a different snack - part of a soft pretzel he's brought from a different car.]
I wish! Now that would be a nice job. No, no - I'm a cultivator. I take care of people's spirit problems!

[he's so STARRY-EYED
but also wait - ]
Spirit problems...? Like - ghosts?!

I see, I see! He does sound like an impressive man. Well! If you can keep up even a quarter of this level of enthusiasm all of the time, I'm sure you'll catch up to him before you know it!
[HAHA... ha.]
—But yes, sometimes! Ghosts, vengeful spirits, angry swords, goddesses, you know.

[but he'll IMMEDIATELY get distracted by the other topic]
Whoa!! So you're like - an onmyouji?! Or a ghostbuster!!
[those are
your two options]
no subject
[He knows Galo's TYPE... BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT EITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE?? Why in the fuck is the future so confusing. Good thing he's the kind of person who just rolls with the idiot punches.]
Haha, not sure! We communicate with them, help them pass on, take care of them if they're causing too much trouble - is it something like that?
no subject
[stupid headstrong idiot
anyway he's just going to sound so very impressed]
Oohhh! Just like a ghostbuster!
[this is what you are now, wwx]
no subject
Yes, like that! Haha, we have similar jobs in that way, don't we? You fight fires and I fight ghosts!
[Or like. Harness their undead powers and make them plant radishes for him, either way.]
