welcome mingle
( AND SO IT BEGINS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
Well - that, and all the people who seem to have woken up alongside you, lost and also probably Doing Their Best™.
There's no need to fret that much though. It's hard to say exactly where you're going next, even though some places might feel a little bit more like a clue, but what you do know is one unshakeable thing:
There's still much more ahead of you.

generic merchant costco
He clears his throat.]
... I was looking for someone to pay, but I can't find anyone here.
no subject
[Hm. That pocky is fucking huge, honestly. He regards it for a long moment.]
I have been able to leave without issue.
no subject
That is a good point.
Minato pauses as if he didn't think about that, digs into his pocket with his free hand, and pulls out..... a few crinkled yen notes.
He squints at them, and then at the price tag.
It's just numbers.]
... I wonder if they take yen...
[...]
But I don't want to just take it...
no subject
[He peers at the yen notes. Wow, that's not gold at all. It just solidifies the theory there's no one here maybe. Shifting the basket, he reaches out his other arm at Minato's pocky.]
Give it to me.
no subject
...Also why?
Minato blinks, and again, but he's too laid back for this life, so obediently... he hands it over.
And puts the yen note on the counter just as obediently. Someone will...surely take it?
(No.)]
Do you like pocky...?
no subject
I've never had any.
[This serious, unfortunately never-tasted-pocky boy walks right out of the store with the basket of charms and Minato's pocky! Outside, he stops and turns around to wait, offering the pocky back out.
There. Minato wasn't the one who took it outside.]
no subject
... Thanks.
I guess I was overthinking it, wasn't I...?
no subject
[He looks down at the offered pocky, and there's a moment of hesitation in that he doesn't reach for it at all... before finally accepting.]
If someone asks, tell them Haku took it.
no subject
No, that's okay.
[Minato doesn't think that feels right--not leaving it all on Haku's shoulders, as if he's throwing him under the bus.
Nahhh.]
You only took it for me, so... it's my responsibility.
[Anyway.]
I'm sure it'll be fine either way.
no subject
[If he's worried, he sure doesn't show it at all. Carefully, he places the box of pocky in the basket of charms, and then he removes one to offer it out to Minato.]
They're empty. There's no magic inside of them yet.
no subject
... Thanks.
Is that why you grabbed those? For magical purposes? [After Personas and this place, there may as well be regular old-fashioned magic.]
no subject
[A pause.]
Or simple curses.
no subject
I see...
At least that means there really are some useful things in that store... I gave up after the aisle of rubber chickens.
no subject
[Magic. But his brows furrow.]
...Rubber chickens?
no subject
[Please imagine this with the most deadpan expression and driest of tones:]
--Hrrrrrnksqueeeeeak.
no subject
makes a somewhat bewilderedly exasperated face.]
Chickens do not sound like that.
no subject
You're right. They don't.
Only rubber chickens do.
[Is this helping, Haku]
no subject
[Does he think they're real chickens? Does he think they are horrendously evil omens of doom? Who knows.]
Take only the things you need.
no subject
[And also, just not a great situation. Taking things still doesn't sit too well with him.]
... Oh. I think I've been rude. I'm Minato. Arisato Minato. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
Haku. [He nods his head in a kind of bow.] You woke here, too?
no subject
That's right. Just a little bit ago. I've been wandering around trying to get my bearings... I think that's the case for most people I've met.
no subject
[His lips thin.]
Though it sounds as if we won't be staying long.
no subject
[He shrugs a little.]
I guess if nothing else, it's reassuring that we're not dealing with this alone.
no subject
[He seems like kind of a too serious boy!]
no subject
[He is a very serious boy, but Minato's cool with that sort. He is also very serious.]
I think... with a group of people this varied, we're bound to be prepared for just about anything that comes our way. Maybe that is why we're all together here.
