intro log.
welcome mingle
( AND SO IT BEGINS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
Well - that, and all the people who seem to have woken up alongside you, lost and also probably Doing Their Best™.
There's no need to fret that much though. It's hard to say exactly where you're going next, even though some places might feel a little bit more like a clue, but what you do know is one unshakeable thing:
There's still much more ahead of you.

Don't bother. You'd be too slow anyway.
[One arm lifts, and he flicks the hand up, almost like a beckon. All of the grains of rice begin to quiver, and then they hurriedly start rushing together to siphon back up inside of the torn hole of the bag.
Once the last is inside, the bag starts tightening up along the seam of the tear until it's fixed. There. He bends down and gathers the bag up again in his arms. And starts--to walk off!]
no subject
Decide that all by yourself, huh?
[ Still, that's an impressive trick. Blastia? Or not. He doesn't know all that much about blastia spells other than the ones he can trigger with sword swipes. He's no Rita Mordio. ]
What sort of arte was that? Wind based?
no subject
It isn't element based. It's just magic. It's a repairing spell.
[He's still waddling off with his dry rice prize that's almost as big as he is. Which is funny considering he used magic to sweep the rice up, but won't use it to carry the bag for him.]
The shop doesn't accept gold. If you want something, you have to take all of them, or you have to take the biggest one.
no subject
You have those? Sounds pretty useful.
[ He watches Haku just wander along for a while, before moving himself -- quickly enough to catch up. ]
Fair. New plan -- I can carry this if you grab the rest of those leeks and carry them out. Or you could just grab a basket or something, if that doesn't work.
no subject
The leeks all suddenly "sit up," the leafy tops swaying. They hop down one at a time, bumbling over each other, and then they start hopping in formation toward Yuri--right by Yuri and after Haku.]
no subject
...
Yuri just shrugs, and follows -- stopping only to grab a large bag of flour and hoist it over his shoulder on the way out. Might as well use his free hands for something else. ]
no subject
But well.
He goes out with a twenty-five pound bag of rice and an armful of leeks wobbling in a line after him. On the other side, he stops, waiting for Yuri. The leeks, however, do not stop until the first one hits him in the leg and the rest bunch up after and fall over. He glances down and then up.]
The spell has to wear off before you use them in anything; otherwise, they'll scream when you cut them.
no subject
Hm. ]
Did you humanise them or something?
[ ... and are they going to follow him now as well? Amazing. ]
no subject
As expected of a human to consider other things modeled in your image just because they can feel.
[He glances down at the collection of Leeks.] Go on. You're going to make someone trip. You can follow... [Hm. He looks up pointedly at the man.
Name?]
no subject
[ He shrugs? Sorry not sorry, smol angry boy. He watches the little leeks patter around before glancing up at Haku. ]
... Yuri.
no subject
[Promptly, all the leeks turn in place and start waddling over to crowd around Yuri's feet and ankles instead.]
You can call me Haku. The spell won't last very long, so you should put them where you want before it wears off, or you'll be stuck carrying them.
Are you cooking?
no subject
[ Might as well cook some food. ]
Better than letting ourselves starve. [ The leeks are having a good time running over his feet right now. He'll be fine, let them have a run around for a moment. ]
no subject
[Kitchen work isn't really his job at the good ol' bathhouse, even if he can do it. Having adults running to him because they can't feed themselves would be such a pain.
He gives Yuri a long, uncertain look.
:\]
Do you need rice?
no subject
[ O-KO-NO-MI-YAAAA-KIIIII. ]
Thought you needed the rice -- that's why you brought it out, right?
no subject
Pancakes?
[He's Japanese enough for okonomiyaki!] I can always barter with you. [Carefully, he sets the bag of rice down between the arches of his feet. And then he heads back in the direction of the store.]
Wait here.
no subject
[ He blinks, watching as Haku suddenly sets the rice bag down, talking about bartering and suchs-- ]
Hold on, you don--
[ Annnnd there he goes. Welp. ]
no subject
To say Haku returns is partially false, as Yuri doesn't see Haku at all in the beginning. What Yuri hears is the sound of a rolling cart with one bad wheel that sometimes catches and squeaks along the floor.
And then what Yuri sees is two dog-sized rotisserie chickens walking out of the front doors of the store. They've been... harnessed? by things from the pet section, and they're definitely pulling the cart behind them. Haku is standing on the handlebar until they get to the door, and then he crouches down so his head doesn't get taken off.
Haku Claus. He has brought a crate of four dozen eggs, a gallon of dashi stock, a round wheel of cheese, and package of four "jumbo" shrimp--because they're cat-sized.]
no subject
well.
Food. Lots of it?
... Huh. That's something, alright. ]
no subject
Robbery is fine if it's food, right?]
We can split everything.
no subject
I was gonna say, everyone's welcome to eat stuff I cook. No trades necessary.
[ But... he looks over at the stuff. The eggs are necessary, and he could probably do something with the rice and some eggs... and the chicken as well. It's not a bad deal. ]
But alright. I can make more with more ingredients anyway.
no subject
[Look, he’s a good boy mostly, but there’s a little streak there. He’s a draggy. Let him live.]
no subject
Whatever works. I'm making food either way. I won't say no to ingredients being brought to me.
no subject
[He leans over the edge of the cart to start separating things into different piles. Thankfully, it doesn't look like he's planning to swindle Yuri out of anything.]
no subject
Just. Y'know. Give him enough eggs and flour to make that okonomiyaki. ]
no subject
There's four dozen eggs, so Yuri gets two dozen and he keeps two. He might have to go back in for containers... The shrimp isn't so bad as long as he doesn't dwaddle--he can put the two shrimp on top of the eggs. The dashi stock and the cheese, though...]
Can you cut it in half?
[The cheese.]
