welcome mingle
( AND SO IT BEGINS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably.
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble.
Well - that, and all the people who seem to have woken up alongside you, lost and also probably Doing Their Best™.
There's no need to fret that much though. It's hard to say exactly where you're going next, even though some places might feel a little bit more like a clue, but what you do know is one unshakeable thing:
There's still much more ahead of you.

He's... a Scanner unit, male model. Short, white hair. [ she trails off, then frowns ever so slightly. ] ... He's not currently functioning.
[ to her credit, she stays remarkably even as she explains it. It sounds foolish when she hears it spoken aloud - looking for someone who can't even move - but wouldn't both of them be broken, if that's the criteria for being here? It wasn't like she'd gone terribly far.
That's her rationale, at least. In reality, she simply doesn't know what she'll do if he's gone, other than continue trying to find him. Even if she has to go backwards to do it. ]
no subject
But...
... They're words that sound familiar to him in a different way.]
Sorry... is he an android?
[The way she talks... it reminds him of Aigis.]

[ it's a bit of a relief to meet a human who actually knows what they are. Maybe not everyone here is from a past so distant they haven't got a clue. ]
We're both YoRHa androids. Our appearances should be similar.
[ his apology strikes her as odd. Is he feeling sorry that 9S is offline? She can't imagine it would actually matter to a human like him. ]
no subject
Mm, okay. Then I'll look for him. I haven't seen anyone like you yet, but he must be around here somewhere.
Two sets of eyes is better than one, so... I'm sure we'll find him.
no subject
[ she's quiet in response to that. 2B isn't half as sure as Minato seems to be. ]
There's no evidence he was brought here. [ she feels obligated to say that much. She won't give up, even though her cause is probably hopeless. That doesn't mean she wants others to chase after it hopelessly with her - especially not a human. ] ... But your assistance is appreciated.
no subject
For now... there's no reason not to put all of our effort into finding him, right?
[He turns on his heel, glancing around curiously. Which way to go...]
As we do... what's your name? I'm Minato.
no subject
Minato, [ she repeats. ] I'm unit 2B. At your service.
no subject
Well, she's different from Aigis, but isn't that to be expected? It just proves she's her own person, just as Aigis is. So he nods.]
It's nice to meet you, 2B-san. I'm at your service too--let's work together in this place.

[ she makes the comment neutrally. It might sound like she's being overly friendly - in reality, she just doesn't think she should be called with one by a human. ]
no subject
[He'll drop it if that's what she wants!!]
no subject
she rolls her shoulders in a sort of tense half-shrug. ]
... It doesn't matter. You're the human here. That's all.
no subject
Minato...pauses at that, brow furrowing a little.]
Sorry, but... I don't understand. What do you mean by that?
no subject
[ it feels weird explaining something that feels so patently obvious to a YoRHa android. It's like asking why the dog wears the leash and not the man. ]
We were made to serve mankind.
no subject
So instead... he just nods.]
... Okay.
But I'd really prefer to call you whatever you'd rather be called. If that's 2B, then I'll stick with that.
no subject
... Have you heard of anything like this happening before? All of this.
[ it's worth a try; 2B assumes the humans have far more worldly knowledge than she does, if only by virtue of age. ]
no subject
Being transported to another space and maybe time...
[...]
Well, yeah, I guess. [Minato.]
I've never been to a place like this though. So I'm not sure my experiences will be that helpful.
no subject
[ she sounds genuinely impressed. Considering the situation, maybe she should have assumed as much, but hearing it from one of them is different. ]
