[mingle] world zero: game on!
world zero: game on!
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and because this is the Isle of Champions - they will be singing forever. You step through an Airport much like the one that you witnessed in The Space - but this one is bustling with life. Streamers and banners line every inch of the walls, praising athletes and bold font encouraging each kingdom to take home the gold!! Haggard assistants run through the airport terminal with luggage carts, and lines of fans with cameras and items they’d like signed wait behind ropes that keep them all in one place.
A few steps in, a jingling tone and vibration might alert you to something in your pocket. Investigating it will reveal a cell phone - and a message just for you!
For Everyone:
One (1) New Message
Welcome to all athletes, supporters, merchants, and esteemed guests to The Isle of Champions for the 10th Annual War Games! The island has been gifted with the latest technology in order to help ensure efficiency and comfort during your visit. Please utilize the digital maps and assistants in order to make it to your hotel and destinations beyond. Thank you for your patronage, and victory to us all!
But what's this…? It looks as though Original Individuals will find that their text message continues:
Bet You Thought You'd Seen the Last of Me? ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
If you can read this… (๑ↀᆺↀ๑)✧ It looks like your soul didn't assimilate as well as the others!!
Here's the skinny: Welcome to… the magic Olympics!! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ Your mission is the same! Laugh! Cry! Regain the pieces of yourself that were once lost!
(`・ω・)ゞ And maybe kick some ass at sportsball while you're at it!!
Uhh, oh, let me catch you up to speed though—
Original characters will then find themselves with a very, very brief summary of what their Remixed life would have been - but it only pertains to facts about themselves, like their kingdom and occupation! There's no mention of their relationships with the other characters. For those of you who haven't crafted possible Remixed lives, you'll only get:
( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) Um… Backstory not found?
… Feel free to wing it! (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Let's continue on our adventure, shall we!
The Isle of Champions is a bustling city, and you'll have to make it through Downtown to actually get to your destination. Whether you're on foot or grabbed a car, you'll see the shops and tourists fill the streets! Every restaurant and dessert shop seems to have its own special gimmick item for the Games, and some people might give you dirty looks on the street if they see you repping a snowcone with a different Kingdom emblem than their own. Phew, competitive much? But more than that, you'll see merchandise for all the different athletes that are competing in the Games - see a familiar face on there? Maybe even if you're own? Or are you going to be the person that buys all your friends' merch just to embarrass them later?
The Hotel where you might want to drop off your stuff - if you have... stuff....? - is about as glamorous as you would expect! It's a structure that's been renovated and improved with each incarnation of the Games, which is a rather fortunate thing as you might notice that reporters, politicians, and other big wigs are assigned to stay here. Other general fans and spectators might have their rooms here, if they didn't get a more inexpensive room in a different inn downtown, but they're definitely on the first ten floors as opposed to eleven and up which sound like they're reserved for the fancy shmancy folks.
But you might also be led to this location with the talk of the Gala that'll be held halfway through the Games - all throughout the first two weeks, it looks like people are getting ready for it! The Grand Ballroom on the second floor of the hotel has a set of double doors where only volunteers and staff can enter - maybe you can find a way in? However there apparently seems to be an odd legend that revolves around the Gala. If you fistbump your rival at midnight, you will both see each other in the Finals for your event the following Games. So? Do you think you're gonna get bumped? ;)
Well, where are the stars of the show anyway....? It looks like Victory Village is where all the athletes are stationed!! All the athletes will be dorming here, and each of them have their own room! Who can say what their situations with their neighbors might be like though - hopefully they get along! All the amenities can be found here - along with a number of luxurious add-ons. There's a 24/7 kitchen open to the athletes, with chefs from all around the world ready to cater to their needs. Not to mention training facilities, because this is about sportsball at the end of the day. Probably. Athletes will find a floor dedicated entirely to virtual reality simulations of every single sport that they might desire. Anyone within the room will begin the simulation with them! Isn't that fun?
And of course... The War Games Arena is majestic. A sight to see. It gleams against the sunlight, holding all the hopes and dreams of every athlete that wanted to compete. Each day holds a new event, and each day the athletes of each kingdom will compete to see how high they can place. Inside are the usual locker rooms, the stands with the thousands of screaming fans, and of course the VIP Lounge and Press Box. Well, surely there's a way to visit if you're really curious enough to get a sneak peek at what it might be like inside.
Finally, every inch of the island itself is gorgeous. The sunsets are famous here, and the beaches have only the softest sand and unfathomably massive swells of waves. Yet the interesting bit is that it seems like all throughout - a line of technology runs. Questions as simple as "Where am I?" will prompt a virtual screen to seemingly appear out of thin air, giving you a map of the island to navigate yourself. Though there may be an occasion where a little spot of fire, or a rain of ice, can be seen out of the corner of your eye - only for it to disappear entirely. Well… maybe they're just working some bugs out. Everything innovative requires a little bit of tinkering before it's fixed!
Welcome to your first world hop - World Zero: Game On! Please utilize this post, as well as the AU Plotting Post for all your reference needs. Questions are also welcomed to be sent to Dana at any time

—No pinecones and no baby raccoons! You're really limiting my choices here, you know. What should I bring instead? Tree sap? Very nice-looking leaves? Aie, so hard to please.
[Sighs and waves a hand!!]
But fine, fine - I'll see what I can do. There! Are you happy? You should give me a smile if you are! Just one!
no subject
You can't bring tree sap unless it's something Mother can turn into syrup. [What the hell are they going to do with LEAVES?] Find something good, or you'll be a disgrace. After all the time you're gone, you show up with tree sap and leaves.
[He does not give Wei Wuxian a smile at all. His face is placid and thin-lipped. Looks a lot like Lan Wangji's.]
no subject
And what's wrong with that? My presence alone is enough of a gift!
[He just says these words so shamelessly, good LORD. He also reaches across the table, nearly bumping Haku's glass of water over, just so he can pinch his cheeks and attempt to push his mouth into a smile.]
no subject
[WHAT THE HECK!! Wei Wuxian is SO LUCKY. His hands are too busy rushing out to try to make sure the glass doesn't spill all over the table and the floor, so he has no line of defense for a moment against the fingers.
His face does bunch up, and he tries to turn his head to the side and away.]
Stop that.
no subject
No one else is here to laugh at his antics this time, so Wei Wuxian provides the laughter as Haku tries to turn away. He stops pinching, but squishes his cheeks instead... Relentless.]
Spare some mercy! You're too cute. How did I get lucky enough to end up with such a good little brother, do you know? Our parents must surely be pleased!
no subject
Everyone is staring. Stop. You'll get us kicked out. [He wishes there was a way to bonk Wei Wuxian across the head with a rock in here.] If you're going to be the family heir, act like it.
They should send you to a temple, not me.
[The next best thing is flicking some of the precious wine out of Wei Wuxian's table storehouse to splash Wei Wuxian in the face.]
no subject
[Oh hang on he's getting WINE SPLASHED IN HIS FACE APPARENTLY, THANKS SATAN. He sputters - it gets him to release his hold, at least, so he can wipe the alcohol from his face. At least he's not goblin enough to lick his hand clean, even if he does just wipe it on his pants.]
Ah, really, you're the worst! [HOW QUICK HE CHANGES HIS TUNE. With a sigh, he picks his cup up and cradles it close.]
—What's this about a temple, though?
no subject
Don't play stupid.
[Frowning, he straightens their table a bit to make room for the food that's coming out. Lord. He can smell the spice already, it's atrociously hot.]
It doesn't matter how famous of an athlete you are. If you're born second, there isn't much left for you except a temple. Or maybe teaching.
[Well, people can do what they want, but there's some judgment sometimes among families.]
no subject
Second, boy he doesn't like any of this. How is it that he's managed to make even a fake little brother's life that much harder just by being born first... He pulls his hands away from the table once the plates are set down, giving the waiter a distracted thanks. Apparently despite the strength of this Spice, he's entirely unaffected, seeing as he can lean right over the bowl and its vapors without so much as blinking.]
Now that's just silly. Why shouldn't you just do whatever it is you'd like? It isn't as if we're talking about inheriting an empire here. [He assumes he'd have been mobbed a lot more if they were that important??]
Have our parents been saying anything to you? Shall I go talk to them?
[It's funny how earnest he is about this, considering he's well aware of the fact that it isn't real - but that's unfortunately the kind of person he is. It's real to Haku in this moment and that's what matters.]
no subject
You're not Prince Harry, but you're still first in line for the family name. [Enjoy being under JC's pressure.] You can run to the woods from it all you like, but they won't live forever. Everything will fall to you.
[One hand waves dismissively before he lifts the wooden chopsticks to break them apart as symmetrically as possible.]
You can't change their minds. I'll just be a professor; it's more reasonable.
[Grown little wiry Haku, standing in a black collegiate cap and gown at a commencement ceremony.]
no subject
What's reasonable isn't always what's best. [TRUST HIM!!] And anyway, shouldn't being the second-in-line actually give you more freedom to do what you want? If you don't have to worry about taking on the duties of the family name and whatnot, what's stopping you from pursuing other things? I'll talk to them.
[During that last bit, he'd picked up his own chopsticks, splitting them unevenly as one does. He then immediately proceeds to start adding chilis without even tasting the broth first.]
no subject
A family isn't going to give its second son that opportunity. [He skewers some noodles between the chopsticks, and even if it's polite to slurp, he doesn't because he's too much like Lan Wangji. He only speaks when he's finished.] It's safer to send them to do something respectable.
Why are you so concerned suddenly? I thought you were trying to put the responsibility off on me.
no subject
[Is that why he went off to the woods?? Hell if he knows! He doesn't know his own life even on a good day!!]
—Then let me ask you, brother to brother! What is it you would want to do if given completely free reign to choose? Anything at all! Would you want to stay an athlete? Do something else entirely? Be honest.
no subject
[The second question slows the twirling scoop of the chopsticks, though, and his eyes look everywhere but at Wei Wuxian.] I don't know. [It's a placeholder. Like he isn't sure he wants to say.]
There's no point in humoring other ideas.
no subject
[But he'll give a little flick of his fingers after that, as if waving the topic away. He also takes a healthy sip from his glass at long last before continuing, because he needed that.]
—There's always a point in humoring these things, you know. Is it that you really don't know? Do you just want the freedom to explore for yourself?
no subject
I like swimming. But you can only have a career swimming for so long. Being a teacher is a better option.
no subject
What about becoming a swimming instructor? Would you like something like that?
[Every kid in Yunmeng had to learn how to swim so they wouldn't drown in the many rivers and lakes and shit around the pier, there were probably people who dedicated their time to Just That.]
no subject
Maybe.
[He's still a little brother, so he's still going to bully Wei Wuxian by not giving a straight answer.]
no subject
Still, he grins, tipping his cup a little in Haku's direction.]
You tell your big brother if that's what you want and I'll do what I can to support you along the way, alright? You have my word!
