( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently?
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble. It might've changed since the last time you saw it.
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin.
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

[Based on his immediate evaluation of LWJ!]
It's not like weapons are sold at the Walmart for Giants, so it's either a trick or something strong enough to know more about this place than we do.
no subject
It is still worth investigating.
[It's kind of his job, especially if people are in danger.]
no subject
[Baren will just take another sip of his sake, his feet swinging as he sits around on his stool.]
no subject
[Not that 99% of the cultivation world actually bothers with minor problems, but Lan Wangji is just. Like This. All the time.]
If it is a trap, then it is important to ascertain the source. [He has his doubts that it is one, but he tries not to jump to conclusions.]
no subject
[The thought: Veggies? Fruits? Nuts?]
no subject
Also that's a question with many long-winded answers but for a simple response:]
Spiritual energy.
[It's not exactly the heart of what they do, but he lifts his hand gracefully anyway, summoning just enough of it to be visible before he lets it disperse.]
It is used for many things. But we are often asked to handle restless spirits, corpses, or other creatures.
no subject
Yeah, duh. But Baren will at least look interested at that, watching the energy appear and then disappear - ]
Corpses?
So you think a zombie shot somebody outside?
no subject
he half-suspects this isn't a serious question, but he's going to answer seriously anyway, because that's who he is.]
No. They lack dexterity. Those that are violent often favor physical attacks.
no subject
Do they run or walk?
[he
he's pretty sure he's going to get a serious answer and he wants to bring it back for science]
no subject
Both. Many hop.
[no, really]
The stronger they are, the more precise their movements.
no subject
[he's like
taking mental notes? in case he ever needs to fight a zombie? you never know
he's also doing his best to distract lwj from following the gunshot sound so]
no subject
The weight of their resentment. Often, the circumstances of their death.
[He's
not really sure what the brain-eating thing is about so he's just going to ignore it honestly]
no subject
[now he's asking questions on behalf of recolle!nikkari and his ghosthunting blog]
Do you kill them? Are there good zombies? Can a zombie ever become a person again? Or is that just virus-based zombies and not death-based zombies?
[he's gOT SO MANY QUESTIONS BECAUSE LWJ IS NOW A ZOMBIE DOCTOR]
no subject
I will discuss it at length when I return. [He's gonna go check out the gunshot and maybe die brb]
