( WELCOME BACK, TRAVELERS. )

There's nothing but the clatter of train tracks, and the odd feeling of almost floating.
When you wake, it's hard to tell exactly what it is that you're missing - only that you are. There are pieces that aren't quite right, even if you're not sure where those pieces would normally be. Pieces of what, exactly....? Well, if you had to put a word to it, it would be - yourself, probably. Or did you get something back recently?
The place you've found yourself in is strange, certainly. It's probably worth exploring a bit. Though it just as easily seems that the only form of welcome or explanation that you have, comes from nothing more than a slab of marble. It might've changed since the last time you saw it.
You might have changed since the last time you saw yourself too - perhaps with a new emblem on your clothes, or a portrait on your skin.
There's no need to fret that much though. You've already gone through the ordeal once, and you might be able to see results from it. Even so, it's best that you don't get too comfortable, because there is still the unshakeable feeling:
There's still much more ahead of you.

[ mmm... well, even then it probably counts. look at all the water crest games, they always have 12 year old looking girls who're like 10000000000 years old by virtue of being some kind of mythical creature. ]
We're out of luck on gift options, though. [ short of giving everyone the same item or just giving one person 40 of one item, but timeline shenanigans state he's not yet visited the store so the narration will keep mum ] If anyone'd even want that... And cake. And decorations.
no subject
[ She's smiling, but if he's observant enough, he can get the sense that she'd be quite enraged if that happened. ]
You'll find someplace soon that has cake and decorations. It may not be what you want in the quantities you'd like, but you'll have access to them.

luckily, the thought of him forgetting anything makes his lips twist anyway. ]
...That sounds, um, a little ominous, Shinobu...san? [ Should he call her -san? She's not that much older than him, but... ] But I'll take your word for it.
[ A beat, and he sighs. ]
I'd hate it if we forgot anything... Mm, but would we know if we did? [ He tilts his head a little, thoughtfully. ] I guess that'd have to be something we'd have to learn from other people... You know, like in movies where someone has amnesia, there's always someone else trying to remind them of whatever they're not remembering.
no subject
[ It is ominous, and that's an acceptable way to address her. ]
As for our memories, it seems to be unique for everyone. As far as I've heard, no one is alike in this. You'll try to remind me if it happens to me, won't you?
[ She has no idea if he's the type who would or not, but there's only one way to find out. ]
no subject
[ ...ok, he really can't be that shameless for long, he's dropping the act. how could any of his friends!! do this!!! ]
Um- I mean- I'm sure anyone with... with a sense of morals would, s-so... I think if you ask anyone that they might... would probably say yes... You would too, right?
no subject
She claps her hands together. ]
Of course I would. I'd hate for people to change against their will.
no subject
Ah, good... [ (phew) ] ...Sorry if I was a little forward. Um, I don't mean to be.
[ that's all ]
no subject
[ To a laughable degree. Shinobu smiles. ]
We haven't been talking for long, but you've been polite for most of it.
[ Minus the two seconds he tried to tell her to forget his thoughts. ]

I was raised to be so by my parents. They're, uh... Really strict about that, and about doing all of my work, and my grades, too. It's only recently they've even let me get a pet, or move out... I mean, I'm staying with an older friend, so it's not like I'm on my own, but it took a lot of convincing on my part to get them to agree. I guess you could say they're, um... Pretty typical for where they came from... That's how they grew up in Japan, after all.
no subject
Is that so? They sound a little overprotective, not wanting you to even have a pet. That teaches responsibility as much as keeping up with any other work. Are you happier living away from them?
no subject
...Am I a bad son if I say yes?
no subject
[ She reaches over to gently touch his arm. ]
As long as you treasure your family, it's fine.
[ There's no telling when they'll be gone. ]
no subject
...Um, thank you. I love them a lot, but they're also... a lot, sometimes. [ To put it lightly.
Sslowly his gaze drops to... her hand on his arm agAIN, UWAH!!! ahhhh..... she really is so kind, ara why are you making fun of tsukasa like this be nicer. ] U-um, but, yes, they're not bad people, just very stern... And I've always tried to be a good son, th-though I also only stayed at home for so long because of my grandmother... She'd be really lonely without me around, so I never, um, wanted to leave.
[ he's a better grandson tbh ]
no subject
You're kind. Knowing someone like you is around relieves me.
[ It gets tiring, dealing with demons who lie and lie and are only out of their self-preservation time and time again. Meeting people like Tsukasa is a nice change of pace. ]
You have a life to live. No one should criticize you for trying to live it.
no subject
You're very kind to say so, Shinobu-san. [ Ahahaha. ] Um... And I hope you can live your life the way you'd like to, too.
